Poem Assignment

Nobody

By Shel Silverstein.

Shel Silverstein was an American poet, author, cartoonist and more, his works have been translated in at least thirty languages and sold over twenty million copies.

Poetry Express, page 15.

Nobody is about a person realizing that someone cares about them, they start off with talking about how nobody loves them and all the things that no one does for them, until one day they realize that they are no longer alone. Since nobody is made to be as if they were a real person, they comment that nobody is gone.

I myself enjoy poem's rhyming structure and how well it portray's loneliness, which is not something that everyone experiences, and the shock that comes about when one becomes cared for, with one line ending up particularly easy to relate to.

"Nobody loves me,
Nobody cares,
Nobody picks me peaches and pears,
Nobody offers me candy and Cokes,
Nobody listens and laughs at my jokes.
Nobody helps when I get in a fight,"

The Voting Age

It is my opinion, that most people under the age of eighteen (And even some over it.) are woefully uninformed or unable to fully understand the realm of politics. As a result, I cannot say I would support lowering the voter age, especially considering the fact that young people don't tend to vote in general. I have little doubt some youth would vote simply because some parties wanted to legalize weed.

Personal Growth.

All things considered, I would have to say that I have shown plenty of curiousity given my voracious appetite for knowledge and intelligence, and creativity through my writing skills. However, I cannot say say I have a plan for developing any of the other skills as I do not find it possible to force emotions or act against what may be human nature. If they come they come, if they don't they don't.
